Bridge Drive at Hadley Wood G C : 12th FEBRUARY 2024 (Report by SUE BURBIDGE)

It was a bright sunny day for the Bridge Drive – I just hope the weather is as kind to us for our golf days later in the year. It was lovely to see ten Life members attending and catching up with thirty of our Playing members and twelve of their guests; all taking part in the first event of the year. Athina and her team at Hadley Wood welcomed us with coffee and biscuits and play commenced just after 11am when it all went very quiet as the ladies started to concentrate!!!!!

There was a break in play around 12.30 for a superb Lasagne, Salad & Garlic Bread lunch and judging by the lively atmosphere in the room, ladies enjoyed catching up with each other. Play recommenced after lunch and continued until 3pm when Sarah Brookes and Kath Williams beavered away checking the scoresheets to reveal the winners – thank you to both ladies for their help which was much appreciated.

                  1st Place     Val Rhead with 3770 points

                  2nd Place    Beryl Brown with 2710 points

                  3rd Place    Morag Broadbent with 2380 points

                  Slam Prize – Val Rhead & Stephanie Reynard scoring 1020 points for making 7 on a 6NT contract.

                  2’s Prize eventually won by Judy Rennie after a tug-o-war for it with an adjacent table!

Our Raffle on the day raised £146 for Herts Vision Loss – many thanks for your support.
